Diary Entry
What is a Diary Entry?
A diary entry is like a personal journal where you write down what’s happening in your life and how you feel about it. It’s not meant to be objective like a news report. It’s all about your thoughts, experiences, and emotions in the present. In your diary, you can include facts, what you see, how you feel, and describe things the way you see them from your perspective.

Tips for Writing a Diary Entry
When writing a diary entry, keep these things in mind:
- Stay within the 150-word limit. Only include the most important things that happened during the day.
- Remember, a diary is not a documentary. Focus on the day’s highlights.
- Take a moment to think about what events impacted you the most during the day.
- Concentrate on the emotions, thoughts, and feelings these events stirred in you.
- Write in a personal, confessional tone, as it’s a record of your personal life.
- Maintain the correct chronological order when jotting down events. Avoid jumping from one thought to another.
- Conclude your entry with an anticipatory note, looking forward to the next day.
- Use proper grammar and spelling, and avoid long, complex sentences. Keep it simple and clear.

Tuck shop
Dear Diary,
Today, we had a tuck shop in school, and I was in charge of our stall. My mom made delicious chutney sandwiches, and they were a hit! They sold out really quickly, and everyone loved them. I was working with my team, which included Ashwini, Sneha, and Jyoti. Ashwini had samosas, Sneha had dhokla, and Jyoti had bread pudding. Everything looked so tasty that we wanted to eat it all ourselves, so we saved a little bit of each for us.
In the end, we made Rs 365 from selling our food items. The money we collected from the tuck shop will be used to help those children who can’t afford to pay school fees or buy books. We were really proud of our efforts and happy that we could contribute to such a good cause.

Singing at the annual day celebration
Dear Diary,
Today, during the morning assembly, we were all asked to take part in the upcoming annual day celebration at our school. This year, our school is planning to put on a musical, and it’s quite an ambitious project. Nearly one-third of the school is involved in this new endeavor.
I decided to give singing a try, and it turns out the teachers really liked my performance. They selected me right away! My part will involve singing both the opening and closing songs, as well as a few more in between. The songs are a bit challenging, but I’m confident that with practice, we’ll be able to master them.
The annual day is scheduled for September, which means we have just two months to rehearse. We’ll be dedicating one hour to singing practice every morning. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but I’m excited about the opportunity, and I think it will be a fantastic experience.

Craft Workshop Today
Dear Diary,
Today, I attended my first craft workshop, and it was so much fun! At the beginning, I felt a little nervous because I didn’t know anyone there. But as soon as the class started, I forgot all about my worries. We learned how to create various types of paper flowers, and it was really interesting.
Tomorrow, we’re going to learn how to decorate and paint flower pots. We’ll also be making decorative and useful items for our homes like wall hangings, pen stands, notice boards, and photo frames. My mom said that the paper flowers I made today are very beautiful, and that made me incredibly happy.
I can’t wait for tomorrow’s session; it’s going to be so much fun!

A Very Rainy Day
Dear Diary,
Today was incredibly gloomy. Thick clouds covered the sky, and it rained steadily all day, which made me feel so drowsy. It’s a bit sad that our summer vacation ended just before the rains came. If it were a holiday, I might have enjoyed the gloomy weather, but as they say, wishes don’t always come true.
I had to go to school, attend tuitions, and then head to football practice. The thought of playing football in the rain was the only thing that kept me going throughout the day. I’m really glad my mom encouraged me to play football. In the beginning, I wasn’t too keen on it, but now I can’t imagine my life without it. The pouring rain and the muddy puddles just add to the excitement.
Tomorrow, we’ll be facing the blue team, and it’s going to be a tough match. But I’m confident that we’ll come out as winners. I can hardly wait for it.

Trip to the Vegetable Garden
Dear Diary,
Today at school, I had a lot of fun. Our class teacher took us to the vegetable garden this morning, and it was quite an exciting experience. In the garden, there were many little saplings lined up in one corner. Our teacher asked us to pair up and choose one sapling per pair. She then taught us how to plant them, and we got to play in the mud, which was so much fun. The teacher was there the whole time, making sure we were doing it right.
She told us that our sapling was now our responsibility. Just like us, they are delicate and need protection and care. Starting today, we have to go and look after our own saplings every day. We need to take care of them and make sure they grow well.

Advice to live by
Dear Diary,
This morning, something unusual happened at the park near my school. I had been sent out of class because I hadn’t completed my homework, and the pressure of my final year was really getting to me. I couldn’t help but cry because I constantly feel like I’m falling behind in one subject or another. There’s so much classwork and homework, it’s almost impossible to keep up. What’s even more frustrating is that the teachers don’t seem to understand, and the pressure from my parents makes me feel like I’m in a pressure cooker.
But then, a kind and elderly lady came over to me. She gave me some advice that made a lot of sense. She said that success shouldn’t be the only goal in life and that sacrificing our health and happiness for it can lead to losses in the long run. I’ve heard similar words before, but hearing them from an old lady who seemed to speak from her own life experiences made it all feel different.

Teacher’s Day Celebration
Dear Diary,
As I mentioned earlier, today we celebrated Teacher’s Day at school. This year’s celebration was quite unique. Along with the usual songs and dances, we also portrayed the lives of famous individuals from around the world who have taught us valuable lessons, such as Anne Sullivan, E. R. Braithwaite, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Radhakrishnan, and Savitribai Phule. The program concluded with a presentation on the teachings found in various religious texts, emphasizing the universal nature of education.
The audience loved the show, and we received praise for our efforts. It was a special and meaningful way to celebrate Teacher’s Day this year.

Presenting my dream
Dear Diary,
Today is the day I’ll be presenting my significant idea to the board. My professional background is in accounting, but not many know that I’m also qualified to be a college lecturer. After suggesting some user-friendly improvements for our product last time, I’ve been asked to share my ideas with the team. I’ve been working on this for a week now, and I’m confident that it’s ready. I’m hoping for positive feedback from the board.
I briefly worked with school students after completing my studies, which gave me insights into their needs. This project is my dream, and if it gets accepted, it will take my career to a new level. I’ve always wanted to contribute to improving the education system, but family commitments held me back from actively pursuing it. This opportunity has come my way, and I can’t wait to stand before the board tomorrow.

Robbery at the Station
Dear Diary,
Today, on my way back from school, I witnessed a distressing incident at Dadar station. An elderly lady was targeted by a thief as she was boarding the train. The thief, who had been following her, managed to get onto the same train just after her. As the train was about to depart, he snatched her gold chain and swiftly jumped onto the adjacent train. Before the old lady could even comprehend what had occurred, the thief made a quick escape by jumping off the other train.
The shock of the incident left the lady so shaken that she collapsed on the train floor. The train had to be stopped at the next station so that she could receive medical assistance, and a formal complaint could be filed. Several kind-hearted women got off the train to help her, and I was deeply moved by their support. I, too, was quite frightened by the incident and hurried home as fast as I could.
My mother told me that such occurrences are sadly quite common, and the elderly lady was fortunate not to have sustained serious injuries.

New Home, New School
Dear Diary,
Today was my first day at my new school in this city. Everything here is unfamiliar to me, and adjusting to it all, especially the people, has been a bit challenging and frustrating. However, school was a positive experience. My biggest hurdle today was finding my classroom before the assembly began. Once I managed to navigate through the crowds of students, things went more smoothly.
The day, for the most part, was uneventful, except for the fact that I had to introduce myself to every teacher I met. I also made a few new friends. Raman, who sits beside me, is into football, and he invited me to join him after school. Unfortunately, I had to decline because I hadn’t informed my mom, but I promised to go tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll have a great time. I’m starting to like this place already.
